The Scent of History: Sabbagh House in Baakline

Project type

Book

Date

20024

Location

Baakline, Shouf, Mount Lebanon

I felt like an inner spark compelling me to write a book showcasing the ancient house of the Sabbagh family.

I felt an irresistible urge to document this old house.

Such records had remained uncharted, unspoken, and unarticulated until now. Consequently, I began collecting expressive records through a 3D laser scan survey to explore the intricate connections between my modulor and the building's dimensions and their interplay within my theorem, "Principia on the modulor use in local architecture."

If I were to distil the house's importance into a single practical statement, it would be epitomized by the heritage concept. The entrance and the house's mass are intricately linked in this state, transcending time constraints.

However, if I were to delve deeper into the elements of the house, I would discover a substantial foundation for a plausible theory rooted in the principles of modulor origins. From this vantage point, I could extract a guide to the genuine teachings emanating from the local builder's norm, transcending the perplexing web of contemporary architecture.
