Literate the Heritage seekers with Architecture

Project type

Book

Date

2024

Location

Baakline, Shouf, Mount Lebanon

This Book aims to emphasize the necessity of digitally scanning all heritage buildings to preserve architectural records and discover the embedment of Modulor in Lebanese and Mediterranean villages and coastal cities.
We explore six cases and architectural landmarks dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries, with some extending into the early 20th century.

This volume identifies the Modulor embedded in various architectural elements, including floor-to-floor heights, distances between architectural components, architectural settings, wall-to-wall plans, façade typology, room sizes, door dimensions, window dimensions, and ceiling heights.

Additionally, the analysis reveals that building blocks constitute approximately 40% of the total built-up area, leaving 60% as voids within buildings, corroborating the findings of Volume 1. This novel discovery represents a significant contribution to the author's research.

The case studies in this volume demonstrate the integration of Modulor within building elements, a finding not previously discussed or documented in existing literature. This book is, therefore, the first publication to identify and present such a model.
